Tax disclaimer

Setttle is record-keeping software. It helps you keep correct books and produces tax schedules for filing review, but it does not give tax advice and does not file for you.

1. Not tax, accounting, or legal advice

Nothing in Setttle is accounting, tax, or legal advice. The product computes and organizes numbers; it does not tell you what to file, how to treat a transaction, or what position to take. Those are judgments for you and your professional adviser.

2. Who is responsible for the filings

You are responsible for the accuracy of your records and for every return, remittance, and election you make. Setttle keeps the ledger and the schedules; it does not take on filing responsibility.

3. What Setttle calculates

Setttle calculates Canadian sales tax on source documents and posts it through the ledger. The sales-tax summary includes posted invoices and bills, supported tax-account adjustments, and imported journal tax facts. The underlying entries and corrections remain available for review.

4. Sales tax

GST, HST, and PST summaries include posted invoice and bill tax and supported credit adjustments recorded in the ledger. In the all-rates view, tax remittances and refunds are shown separately from the estimated net tax for the period. These figures are organized for your review; they have not been verified against your specific registration, place of supply, filing method, or exemption situation.

The summary is a review schedule, not a completed return. Its sales subject is not total revenue for a CRA return. Imported journal tax adjustments without a reliable rate appear separately in the all-rates view, and any subject amount inferred from a journal counterpart needs your review before filing.

5. No direct CRA filing

Setttle does not transmit returns or remittances to the Canada Revenue Agency or any other authority, and it does not claim to. Filing stays with you or your accountant.

6. Accountant handoff

The accountant handoff includes a sales-tax summary, trial balance, general ledger, AR and AP detail, bank reconciliation status, open items, and source documents, so a professional can review the position and decide how to file.

7. Not yet included

T2125-specific exports are deliberately deferred. Setttle will add them once the ledger-derived tax controls and the handoff have been accepted by working Canadian accountants, rather than shipping an export that looks authoritative before it is.

8. When in doubt

If a tax question is close, treat Setttle as evidence rather than an answer. Talk to an accountant, and use the handoff to give them everything they need. You can reach us at hi@setttle.ca for product questions, but not for tax advice.
